Retired Navy Admiral Jim Ellis has been named this year’s  Marietta High School Distinguished Alumnus and  recognized Thursday night at our 2nd Annual Gala – Encore at the Strand Theater.

 We are a nonprofit organization with a mission to support the students, faculty and administration of the Marietta City Schools and enrich the school’s programs and activities so that the Marietta City Schools System will be a world-class learning center for the benefit of the Marietta community.

Here are some of the things the Marietta Schools Foundation is currently doing:

• Scholarships for outstanding students
• School improvements grants
• MHS Distinguished Alumnus awards
• Mobile technology labs for MHS
• Supporting Marietta City Schools marketing effort
• Funding for class room teachers to help them be more proficient
• Funding for needy students to participate in school sponsored activities
