JAMES AND MARY MILLS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
The scholarship submission window for the 2024-2025 school year will open January 6th and close March 1st.
Jim Mills, Class of 1959, varsity football letterman, was one of Marietta’s most devoted and loyal fans. He passed away April 15th but will always be in our hearts as one of Marietta High School’s greatest fans.
Jim and his wife, Mary (class of 1949), epitomized the “true blue” spirit. They were season ticket holders dating back to 1960, missing only ONE home game in 58 years due to a job commitment that took Jim, a mechanical engineer, out of town. As ardent Big Blue supporters they also traveled frequently to away games, even years ago packing up their infant son, Scott, for road games as far away as Florida.
The Mills were also charter members of the True Blue Club and long time benefactors of Marietta High School.
To honor Jim and his unwavering support of his Blue Devils and the Marietta community, his seat located in Section D, Row 14, Seat 18 will be permanently marked with a name plate recognizing Jim and his near perfect attendance.
Additionally, the Jim and Mary Mills Scholarship has been established and will be awarded every spring to a Marietta senior that best exemplifies the qualities of loyalty, service and True Blue spirit as demonstrated by Jim. We encourage you to consider donating to the Jim and Mary Mills Scholarship.
Jim and Mary’s son, Scott (class of 1984) and his wife, Carla, a member of the MHS faculty, and their four children (all MHS grads) Brigham, Emma, Joseph and Logan, carry on the tradition of supporting the Blue Devils at Northcutt Stadium.
